Serious Art versus the humorous. Works that contain an element of both are always far more interesting than one or the other and the current Christmas show at My Life In Art has it all. Though the content sways more in an graphic art direction, there’s something for everyone. From the trendy block prints by Basher to the traditional ink paintings of Guo Xiu Lin. My only slight disappointment was that there was only one piece by the aptly named John Christmas. ‘Drum Kit Number One’ is simple, elegant (in an ever so slightly violent way, being that it seems to have been created by pin holes in the reverse of the white paper) and curious. All the artists deserve a mention in varying degrees of interest but Lisa Swerling is the hook.
